I feel sort of guilty that the first real picture I have done of Ike's mom is her bringing the thunder down on her son because generally speaking she's a very friendly and kind individual. It's just...she doesn't take any mouth from her kid. Even if he is an adult at this point.
Working out the colours, ugh, you would think being less bright than the males peahens would be easier to colour. Also was goofing around with the background. Recently I have been trying to attempt making backgrounds based off photos or screenshots of my sims2 game. Right now I am testing the time it takes to do so versus quality. Trying to get a somewhat quick yet nice looking mesh since I know backgrounds are my biggest bane. If anything, it will hopefully keep me in the mindset to work on backgrounds more.

Thanks. Beaks are always a tough one for me since I am a sucker for overly expressive reactions and beaks just...oof. The lack of teeth and other things has a tendency to trip me up more often than not. Hopefully people wont mind too much when I end up making them a bit elastic for the sake of goofy expressions.
But I do like drawing bird characters. The amuse me so. :>

I think people tend to expect some sort of elasticity, by default, simply because cartoons do it, and we don't have any beaked creatures that actually talk in any great number.
I believe Mercedes Lackey had one in The Eagle And The Nightingale, in which his voice was generated by his vocal cords, not his lips, so had some unusual (or so it was explained) fricatives. I think that's probably the best explanation I've come across that slips into mind just now.
So, yeah. Go ahead with the elasticity. I think you're doing just fine. ;-]

Personally, am diggin' the background. Sims2 is really a pretty clever idea for reference material; it sure beats the hell out of finding real pictures or creating SketchUp models. The simplified/stylized look is really hip, too.
Also fantastic expressions and character designs. You draw beaks so well and man are those beasty to draw normally.

Nice, pic, and being motherly is what mothers do best. Only problem I have with the pic is the mother's right hand looks awkward. Like it hurts to have your hand on your hip like that, almost like the hand should have the fingers towards her belly, or pointing down towards her legs with her thumb pointing up towards her head instead.
