Excellent episode, finally is revealed the Heroic Spirit Emiya, Archer is in my opinion is character a much superior to Shirou, who remains imprisoned in his convictions without using logic minimum, I only feel anger of Shirou

Alright, not going to trawl through the 14 pages of hate, but I noticed that people were talking about the red/white hair thing. Archer made the contract with Alaya before he died, so he has plenty of time to overuse projection before he kicks the bucket. Nothing wrong there.

About the episode, I found the scenes changing between Lancer and Archer vs Shirou to be a bit jarring. Kotomine appears and then they switch to Archer. Archer throws the sword, switch to Lancer. It feels cobbled up to me. Everything else in the episode was spot-on, and EMIYA 2015 is as great as I could've wished it to be. I'll go for a 4/5 this time~

Oh, my, no. I watched through every episode S2 laughing because of how the anime exceeded my expectation with each episode. After that I eagerly visit various forums to see how people justify the absolutely incomprehensible decisions they have made (which happens to be nearly every episode since EP12.

Well the fact that Shirou takes part of it automatically makes it underwelming because no way in hell they'd use budget on him.

Can't wait to see the next episode.

Archer's conversation with Shirou wouldn't have been so boring if they didn't repeat the same things over and over..It was just so dragged out. I feel they're stretching it to make it fit the episode count.

Pretty much how it was in the VN.

http://lparchive.org/Fatestay-night/Update%20216/

It's a clash of ideals, too bad we don't know much about what Shirou thinks.

Yeah, it was dragged out a bit, but I found it bearable, mostly because while he was talking about the same thing again, we get more tidbits of info in every monologue. Say, we now have the nuclear facility, the "do not want to see people cry" line, and the real reason why he's hell-bent on knifing Shirou.

On a rewatch, i realized how much the intended shock from Lancer's death scene horribly overshadowed the Shirou/Archer final confrontation.
They didn't even give the scene the room to breathe before giving Shirou's respond and ending the episode immediately.

Yeah. Something about them being a by-product of excessive reality marble (projection) usage, therefore he became like that before dying and becoming a heroic spirit, not after.
Even the Archer from Fate/Extra (who's supposed to be someone other than Shiro) also had white hair and dark skin before he became a counter guardian.

Maybe it will be corrected on the BD release. Not a big deal, but you'd think ufotable would pay a little more attention to detail on these things.

I also thought the same thing at first, since the image of the gallows is shown how and when he actually died later on, and it's implied he didn't die at that water facility where he made the pact.
Still, he should've looked older at that point... So he outta been depicted looking taller, more toned, with greying hair and waning eyes. It's about the ambiance.
The tech on that water facility looked to be like a good decade or so into the future too, so it makes it confusing him being shown like he's still in his early 20's, where in fact he should be older than that at that point.

I do believe I've addressed this, but oh whatever.

His contract and his death doesn't have to happen at the same time. He has plenty of time to turn dark and bleach his hear white after his wish for a miracle. It's never said when he contracted with Alaya, so it could might as well be years after this incident that he dies.

EDIT:

IDK about that. The nuclear facility is exactly that: a nuclear facility, only with more lights. It's not that high-tech. Besides, Archer probably dies around his 30s, and this Shirou is early 20s, which explains why his skin tone hasn't darkened yet. We didn't see how tall he was, actually, since it was a partial body shot. He could've been at 187cm at that point, but we wouldn't know.

We do know roughly when he did though:

Fate/complete material III: World material - FAQ with Nasu: Servants, p.133

Q: Around what age did Archer (Emiya Shirou) form a contract with the World as a Guardian?

A: From his late twenties to early thirties.

Seems like his body should already be showing signs of projection use if they're following this.

I think they've clearly altered the age in the anime though.

Shirou: Because no matter what happens, I will never regret being hyped! If you say hyped people will definitly turn salty over time, then I will destroy that mistaken belief by myself!

We can't go a single episode of anime without tentacles and sexual harassment...
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

Shirou: I see then you and I are different people after all.

Archer: What?

Shirou: Because no matter what happens, I will never regret being hyped! If you say hyped people will definitly turn salty over time, then I will destroy that mistaken belief by myself!

Archer: That way of thinking is where all of this started. One day you will reach the point where the hype dissipates and you turn salty as well.

Shirou: I won't. That day will never come.

Archer: That's true. I suppose it won't. At least in the salt club you have no future because I just delete your comments...

to be continued...

Fai seems as hopelessly miserable as Archer, so this comparison seems apt.
Well done.

Kirei: Kill Rin.

Lancer: I refuse to kill Rin. You will have to use a command spell.

Kirei: Good point, no like I only have 3 right? Lancer kill Rin.

*Lancer kills Rin in a quick fashion*

This is how the scene should have went but instead we have Kirei going full retard and Rin surviving because of plot.

? Kirei can't kill a tied up person himself?

The thing is, he doesn't exactly need Lancer anymore by this point. If Lancer acts insubordinate, he simply can be disposed of for acting like such a nuisance and Kirei could just proceed to kill Rin himself.

Ep1 scene:

Shirou: I don't want to die! Help!

Lancer: Sorry kid, no witnesses allowed. Gae Bolg!

*Shirou dies, Saber summoned, Saber dissipates cuz no contract*

This is how the scene should have went but instead we have Lancer going full retard and Shirou surviving because of plot.

You're taking the POV of an omniscient viewer. For Kirei, getting rid of Lancer would be the natural thing to do, since it: 1) deals a poetic death to Lancer, 2) drops Rin's morale, 3) can now get rid of a potential backstabbing Servant.

I was testing his loyalty; a test which he failed.

You have to admit the scene was handled pretty fucking badly. It was like Lancer was telling Kirei "Hey dude, I'm supposed to be this hero thing ya know, so it looks bad for me to kill a lil girl. I'm gonna say I refuse, but ya know, if you just use a command seal >hint hint<, I'll do it *wink*." And then Kirei doesn't take the hint and kills Lancer.

Sees Lancer punching Shinji and notices that Lancer is emotionally involved. Acts completely surprised that Lancer didn't want to kill Rin. Now follow me on this if he knew these things, why did he ask Lancer to kill Rin? For that matter, why waste a servant like this when you have more than enough command spells to burn?

So Kirei's logic is if you defile me once, you will be destroyed even though the logical thing would be to use a command spell and get the maximum usage of the servant?

Here is another option, he kills Rin himself since he knows her so intimately and doesn't even having Lancer die. I mean if he was going to do it himself, why waste your breath and servant on such a trivial thing.

Logic out the window.

Because Lancer would object. Violently.
