Didn't we use to call guys like that heteroflexible? I haven't heard that term since the 00s.
I was not strictly talking about those kind of guys. But yes, that was a trendy term for a few years. However, it was mostly used by unabashed “queers”. Also, “flexible” was used as a way to not truly acknowledge having any desires or attractions outside of your identity and also to continue to promote “straight” worship and superiority. So, I’m happy it faded.
We don’t need new terminologies. We just need to stop looking at “straight” and “masculine” as the apex of what’s aspirational. And we need to actually dissect and question what “sexuality” is supposed to mean, have conversations about traumas and fluidity and insecurities and mental health, learn about the dimensions of the gender, sexual, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. Of course, all of that is easier said and done. And the way things are benefits the ego and lifestyle and fantasies of many.
