I may have been judging the guest room too harshly because we had guests maybe twice a year, and other people might have grandparents over weekly or something. I mean, if you don't have the space, that's one thing, but I always hated when kids were considered the least priority in a home. Nothing was really theirs. What, does she need to be able to spin her office chair around the room? She should have taken the smaller room for her office, but she was playing classic evil stepmother. At least they were spared from her.
This is kind of a tangent to that, but I also hate the attitude of "you're a minor, you can't own anything". Kids are humans too, and any laws that deny them property rights should be repealed so this type of parent has nothing to back that attitude up.

Because that's what that ring represents: the love between my late wife and me, that has left me with nothing but heartache and memories". There's a reason heirlooms rings hold value, and it's because they have decades, sometimes sometimes hundreds of years of happy marriage behind them. This is OPs wife's ring, nobody else's. Even without history, or value theft is theft, i would have called it out publicly, backlash be dammed "that is my late wife ring, I didn't gift that to you. Please return it". Story 7 - By Maddie’s logic, someone else could “fall in love” with her fiancé and just take him away from her too. Stealing from the dead is the lowest of the low.
Story 8: What a hateful, self-important person OP's mom is. "I'd like to try the cheesecake." "Oh, [meow] the cheesecake my idiot son brought because he's stupid. Have some pumpkin pie." Putting both desserts on the table and letting people have whichever they choose or both would be a healthy person thing to do, so of course she, as a complete whacko, does not do that.
I think the most unbelievable thing in these videos is the fact that these cats are actually using the cat tower and don't play with packaging instead.
Story 8: It seems like OP isn't a perfectly traditional woman and mom can't reconcile with that. OPs dessert wasn't the TRADITIONAL Thanksgiving dessert so it had no place at mom's table. That's the vibe I got at least.
First story: Let's say it louder for the people in the back: NO 👏🏼 ONE 👏🏼 NEEDS 👏🏼 TO 👏🏼 BE 👏🏼 TRADITIONAL 👏🏼 WIFE 👏🏼 IF 👏🏼 THEY 👏🏼 DON'T 👏🏼 WANT 👏🏼 TO👏🏼 BE!👏🏼 Props to Op for standing up to his out dated mother. And to his mother, please join us in the 20th century! Story 3: Op should stop telling MIL anything, since she can't be trusted to keep her f-ing mouth shut. Maybe tell her last on purpose in the future.
It amazes me how little things change in some people’s minds. A thousand years from now, some MIL will be like “you should cook and clean like a traditional wife”.
I do think everyone, regardless of their gender, should be able to cook enough to feed themselves because that's just basic life skills. cooking an entire turkey???? a skill most people don't need. I admire OP's shiny spine
Story 1: his mom set Julia up to fail so that she could criticize her more. The turkey is a really hard thing to make especially if you're taking it to someone else's house. He needs to shut that down and probably go on contact her until she learns that it's not going to be accepted for her to try and trap his fiance or his mother will always bully her.
Story 4: Children first, spouses second. ALWAYS! A person's child should ALWAYS be their first priority. If she can't handle being second to his daughter then she needs to find someone who doesn't have kids and then never have them herself.
Another reason why Vincey is the best Reddit story channel - he calls out stories that sound fake! Love that Vincey is genuine and doesn’t just read the story and pretend like it’s real despite all of us thinking it’s rage bait ❤
Story 4 - I don't work from home full time (mostly hobby work). My home office is in a 10'x10' room, and I'm really only using about 3/4 of that as my office space (the other 1/4 is storage). That's 2 desks, a desk chair, 2 large bookshelves, and a big comfy reading chair. That woman will be fine in the smaller room. Also the daughter who lives there deserves to have her own space that she is comfortable in. She will likely spend more time in her room than it would get used as an office.
I am just going to make some statements here about all of these situations. First-Normalize confrontation and standing up for yourself. It is part of being an adult, stop worrying about hurting feelings when people are hurting yours. Second-If a situation makes you feel uncomfortable LEAVE! You do not need to give any reason, you are an adult. Third-Your children come first! Before your partner, an ex, a new partner, before parents, and before yourself. You brought them into the world and it is your responsible to care for them until they are adults. You can resume your own life afterwards. Now the ring story OP should have went in and taken it right off the girl's finger and told everyone how her mother stole it. People get a spine for heavens sake. Call the police now. Last-Do not give a damn what other people think about you and remember BLOCK is your friend, use it with abandon. Keep YOUR peace always. Happy Holiday Season everyone ❤
Story 1 mum sounds like a complete misogynist, demanding any woman who is to be a wife must make a turkey sounds like the same crap sexist men yell. If I was OP I'd be going to my mum with a "clear this sh*t up so people stop bothering us or you'll never have a thanksgiving with us ever again." But my mum does already have a massive fear of us cutting her off. 🤐
Story 1: The MIL wants a mini me as a DIL. What should matter is that her son is happy with his spouse, not that she is exactly the way the MIL expects her to be. Julia brought home a delicious turkey, be glad. And yeah, I agree with Vincey that it was a trap. No matter what she did, MIL would have complained.
Ooh, sounds fun! If I can make a recommendation, get yourself a Vaquita! They are a small, cute whale in the Gulf of Mexico and HIGHLY endangered due to illegal fishing (they get caught in gillnets and drown). There is literally only a handful of them alive (estimated less than 20-30) and the vast majority of people don't even know those cute little marine mammals exist!
I don't have any tattoos, but if I ever did get any, I'd want all animals, too. Specifically ones that I feel an affection for, so it'd be like: buffalo, crow, coyote, turtle. 🤣
Story 4: people always discuss who you should prioritize, your kids or your spouse. The answer is that it doesn't matter, because there is no reason for a spouse to care so little for your kid that you would have to choose. Emma is worried about being neglected for Lily, but in trying to assert herself she is proving that she will be a terrible step-mom. A normal parent response would be to have a smaller home office so that your child (step-mom or no) can keep the room they love.
Who the frick asks a guest to do the TURKEY? The only reason that makes sense is if the host's oven breaks the day of Thanksgiving. Even then, it should be the host running it over to the guest's house and simply asking them to watch it. Total trap. NTA.
Story 1, a huge part of the way I show my love is through cooking and feeding people, but in no universe would I expect the same or get offended lol. Good on that guy for not only understanding his wife but recognizing lack of respect.
Perfect timing! I just finished making a birthday 'cake' for my cat using wet food and treats. She's turning one and loves sitting with me as I watch your videos ❤

I've heard the last story on a different channel but one comment that stuck out was reassuring OP she didn't "Mess up her life" by having depression. It was probably her mother saying it was her own fault somehow but as someone with clinical Depression and Anxiety I can tell you from experience it's not your fault. It's a chemical imbalance in your brain and while the decisions you make are your responsibility, it isn't your own doing that makes Mental Struggles, it's your brain not braining probably.
Story 2: I have a hard time believing someone would be in a relationship with someone homophobic for 4 years and there never were any signs or it didn't come up at any time until right before the wedding
@@constantine9606 For FOUR years? I'd have a hard time not showing my dislike for pineapple on pizza for 4 years which is a trivial thing, but hiding homophobia for that long? And then just right before the wedding go full on homophobe instead of trying to find a however flimsy excuse? I mean right at the top of my head something like "I want the wedding to be focused on just the two of us. You are so tight with your brother I feel that would take away from that. And it would only be for that day, your relationship to your brother is strong that one day more or less wouldn't matter anyway".
@@constantine9606 Oh, sorry wasn't trying to imply the story was false. Just that I can't wrap my head around hiding something like that for that long a time. I know other people are different, but for me the thought of trying to keep something like that hidden for that long just gives me headaches. I have no problem believing people keeping stuff like that secret, but it just seems so tedious and exhausting for no real gain at all. You'd go through all that efort for what? Denying who you are towards your most important person and likely setting up a thermonuclear bomb that'll likely blow up in everyone's face. I just don't see it. I could've phrased it differently and I'm not going to blame my ESL status on it. It's just something I don't understand.
Story 1: Giving someone who isn't good at cooking, the role of making the turkey is insane and evil. I've tried making a small turkey once, and even following a step-by-step guide on a recipe, it "failed". To me it failed as it wasn't anywhere close to what my BIL does (he's Australian, whereas I'm Swedish, so we don't really do the turkey/thanksgiving thing) It was edible, but I wouldn't say it was great. So I see what OP's mom did here. She set up Julia to fail from the start

Story 7: idk if the story is real, but people will absolutely side with thieves that insane irl. I've seen rifts just as ridiculous in my own family and in an old friend group for the sake of peacekeeping, and it's infuriating.
Nothing beats watching Vinncy while crafting or on the way to work! In this case, it's crafting. These stories always give me more motivation to get things done.
Just to be fair to that one story, I got engaged at 17 and have been married 15 years. My mom got married at 18, my grandmother at 19. Sometimes you find your person early and you just... Know. We did however have a6 year engagement, but mostly because we'd already committed to each other and a piece of paper wasn't that important to us.
Story 1 - If I had a DIL I wanted to help with Thanksgiving dinner who was terrible at cooking, I'd give her something easy to make, and especially easy to re-make if it went poorly. Make sure she knows theres no pressure. In my family it's tradition everyone contributes to dinner, but this is supposed to be something fun, not something the whole dinner hinges on. It's about having family together at the end of the day. We could get Chinese take out, and as long as the family is there, we're happy.
Hey Vincey! I just stayed up until 6:30am busting my butt getting the first part of my exams in for my first term now that im back in school, and your videos are the perfect thing to watch right afterwards because I was/am anxious as hell! 😅 I had to write an essay, first one I’ve written in 20 years, and I’m nervous AF but I think I did pretty good. Wish me luck! 🤞
story 3: one thing people don't realise is that a lot of people do handle highly stressful events perfectly but perfection isn't easy to see, it's something you have to decide for yourself. you're not supposed to make choices to protect yourself in case someone acts completely unreasonable, that's something a threatened person does in a desperate attempt to protect themselves but the person hurting you is the other person, not yourself, at least in cases like this, OP could've done things to try to avoid the situation but she trusted MIL to understand that she was told to pretend OP wasn't pregnant until the second trimester because talking to people made her nervous, so OP couldn't have known that things would go so wrong because part of being a secure person who isn't looking over their shoulder in fear is trusting people to be trustworthy and capable without having to interrogate them about it. it's healthy to do that. what is also healthy is to cry in public, it's what tears are for, to override your attempt to not embarass yourself and to reach out to those around you and say in the most primal way that you're not okay and you need help, it is supposed to be stronger than your shame, OP needed to "ruin" thanksgiving because she needed to tell her family how she felt, thanksgiving wasn't ruined because of OP, it was ruined because presumably they love her and care about her and if she needs their help then that is more important than letting them eat a turkey, it's simply what happens when you care about other people
It's funny how you start noticing a name once you know someone with that name. I never noticed how often "Jake" is used as a fake name in these stories until I started dating my Jake.
Good on OP in story 2. I had someone I almost considered dating, but then he came out and said... and I quote 'I'm open minded, but they should keep that far awat from me and not in public' - RE: a couple of guys walking hand in hand. Now, I figured this guy was autistic like myself. Unlike him.... and I guess I didn't even realise growing up I'd been hanging around with LGBTQ+ people, and I literally see all couples as the same. He made an excuse for his inflexible autistic thinking and I'm just like 'You can't say that, it's disgusting.' I gave him one more chance and well, this guy was literally blocked the same day and I haven't spoken to him since. We'd had a few debates about different orientations and whatnot, then he comes out with this gem 'I don't understand trans people. They're only doing it for attention'. I actually saw red, I was furious. My best friend is trans, and one of my parents friends turned out to be trans and I'd known her since I was little. It's people like this where hard boundaries need to be set.... or just removed from your life completely. I literally don't care whats in your pants or what your orientation is, people are people and individuals, that's how I've alway seen people. None of this lumping them into some group and refusing to even acknowledge their right to be who they are.

That one is obviously fake lol
She is absolutely awful, I love op calling his ex fiancé a Karen, so we know how in the wrong she is even before we know why
Oh, Chia's little mittens!
Yep, the mum absolutely set this up.
The cat tree seems more stable
Children ALWAYS come before new partners. Period.
I think the most unbelievable thing in these videos is the fact that these cats are actually using the cat tower and don't play with packaging instead.
Or what mine did. Stealing pens and erasers (and coming back with previously "borrowed" ones 😂)
I mean packaging might not be an option anymore.
@@lina9535 I mean they were nice enough to trade back the old ones.
Story 8: It seems like OP isn't a perfectly traditional woman and mom can't reconcile with that. OPs dessert wasn't the TRADITIONAL Thanksgiving dessert so it had no place at mom's table. That's the vibe I got at least.
First story:
Let's say it louder for the people in the back:
NO 👏🏼 ONE 👏🏼 NEEDS 👏🏼 TO 👏🏼 BE 👏🏼 TRADITIONAL 👏🏼 WIFE 👏🏼 IF 👏🏼 THEY 👏🏼 DON'T 👏🏼 WANT 👏🏼 TO👏🏼 BE!👏🏼
Props to Op for standing up to his out dated mother. And to his mother, please join us in the 20th century!
Story 3:
Op should stop telling MIL anything, since she can't be trusted to keep her f-ing mouth shut. Maybe tell her last on purpose in the future.
It amazes me how little things change in some people’s minds. A thousand years from now, some MIL will be like “you should cook and clean like a traditional wife”.
The mother does act like some from the 20th century tbh - But only if they are high school age or younger, because she acts like a kid.
The clapping emojis make me think you also snap at waiters and scream for managers to get discounts.
I do think everyone, regardless of their gender, should be able to cook enough to feed themselves because that's just basic life skills. cooking an entire turkey???? a skill most people don't need.
I admire OP's shiny spine
@@CanonSkyrissian Honestly turkey isn't even worth the effort, as long as she can prepare like regular everyday stuff she's fine.
7. Theft is theft
Post 2: OP is a freaking HERO! ✊🏽❤
Story 5- I said “This isn’t real” at the same time you did 😂
tbh i wouldn't be surprised if this type of 'prank' has happened some people just think they're funny
I really hope story 2 is real, that guy is a legendary brother! I hope Chad is safe and happy as well..
S3: OP should _not_ apologize! She didn’t directly say it, but OP was suggesting apologizing to *keep the peace.* 😖
#3 is why you don’t ask and don’t tell and wait until the pregnant person tells you.
The best part of the season is that shortly after we get all the holiday drama and I live for it
Story 1: The MIL wants a mini me as a DIL. What should matter is that her son is happy with his spouse, not that she is exactly the way the MIL expects her to be. Julia brought home a delicious turkey, be glad. And yeah, I agree with Vincey that it was a trap. No matter what she did, MIL would have complained.
I got a tattoo of a quokka today. Half leg sleeve is almost complete. We'll complete it next time. I only get tattoos of animals. I'm a walking zoo.
Do you have any fruit bats?
@@lulolie No bat yet. It will probably happen one day. Bats are so cute.
I don't have any tattoos, but if I ever did get any, I'd want all animals, too. Specifically ones that I feel an affection for, so it'd be like: buffalo, crow, coyote, turtle. 🤣
get an avocatoe.
Total trap. NTA.
Also, I bet a Whole Foods turkey would be delicious, the flipping ingrate.
For sure. A whole turkey is hard to make, even for an experienced cook. Mom wanted ammunition in her ongoing war.
Story 1, a huge part of the way I show my love is through cooking and feeding people, but in no universe would I expect the same or get offended lol. Good on that guy for not only understanding his wife but recognizing lack of respect.
Guy in story 2 is an amazing brother and ally. We need more people like him in the world.
Perfect timing! I just finished making a birthday 'cake' for my cat using wet food and treats. She's turning one and loves sitting with me as I watch your videos ❤
I wonder how many bloopers Vincey has now with the cat tree behind him. VINCEY! RELEASE THE BLOOPER REEL! Pretty please?
Vince: "the tower can barely handle the greatness that is chia!"
Nez in the background: *vigorously wiggles around, rolls over, and licks himself in a pique, wobbling the tower
Day 175 of telling the Vincey Fam god-awful jokes I've heard on the internet:
Three fish are in a tank. One turns around and asks the others, "How the heck do you drive this thing?"
Hehe. That's a good one.
Omg yes he’s back!! I’m glad to witness the return of you and the kitties (also glad to see that your power has returned too 😂) I hope you and the cats weren’t too stressed + that you stayed safe, we love you guys ❤️
Yesterday was the first snow of the year (lasted more than an hour) and I work at the zoo. The Amur tigers and the baby snow leopard were SO happy and I even caught the tiger family all cuddled up. Hope everyone stays warm this winter and to Vincey and all Aussies, stay cool!
The cat tree is leaning less today 🧐🥳
These stories make me so grateful to have a mother in law who is kind, thoughtful, and minds her own business.
17:01 Cat :3
Story 3 made me almost cry... That was so needlessly cruel of the ml
Glad everything is sorted from your power outage. Those situations always stink.
I have to listen to this in the background because every time I look at the video, I just get distracted by the cat. it’s so fluffin cute
4- you SHOULD prioritize your daughter. Thats how being a parent works. End of.
Story 1: Giving someone who isn't good at cooking, the role of making the turkey is insane and evil.
I've tried making a small turkey once, and even following a step-by-step guide on a recipe, it "failed".
To me it failed as it wasn't anywhere close to what my BIL does (he's Australian, whereas I'm Swedish, so we don't really do the turkey/thanksgiving thing)
It was edible, but I wouldn't say it was great.
So I see what OP's mom did here. She set up Julia to fail from the start
Story 3: Stop talking to this woman. She only wants attention and she's using OPs suffering to get it. I hate this woman.
Welcome back Vincey!
I can't even wait until my morning walk to listen to your new video Vincey!
I might have another listen when the kookaburras are awake so they can laugh along with me! 🥰🤭
Have a great day all!!
First time actually seeing you in person. Been watching old videos of yours. I know you don’t know me but please give the cats a good scratching for me.
"keep the peace". I get more and more angry every time I hear the phrase.
It makes me want to get 2 hours deep into a game of Monopoly just so I can flip the table.
Loving the kitties in the cat tree behind you 😊 so cute!
2:12 SIR, from women everywhere, I thank you❤
Story 4: the smallest room is the one that's always made into the office in a reasonable home. OPs gf/fiance sounds like shes gunning for that wicked stepmother title she always wanted.
Story 8: My family makes 3 to 5 different desserts for Thanksgiving.
The background Kitty drama today was incredible !😮
Story 1- my husband is super “traditional” and, yet, every year he made the turkey.
I love the little hearts on your plugs!
Love your infectious positivity! And I always look forward to the “byeeeee!” at the end! 👏🏻
Awww, Chia’s little wiggles at the end 😭
Story 7: idk if the story is real, but people will absolutely side with thieves that insane irl. I've seen rifts just as ridiculous in my own family and in an old friend group for the sake of peacekeeping, and it's infuriating.
It wasn't real, the post history has the poster as a 28 year old woman too and the shared selfies're a lady.
Nothing beats watching Vinncy while crafting or on the way to work! In this case, it's crafting. These stories always give me more motivation to get things done.
I just noticed that Vincey's gauges have a heart pattern in them! That's so cool!!
Thought the cats were teleporting, then realized it was probably edits.
I had to write an essay, first one I’ve written in 20 years, and I’m nervous AF but I think I did pretty good. Wish me luck! 🤞
I usually enjoy some Thanksgiving drama, but these are just sad :( Good thing we have Vincey and the kitties to get us through it.
story 3: one thing people don't realise is that a lot of people do handle highly stressful events perfectly but perfection isn't easy to see, it's something you have to decide for yourself. you're not supposed to make choices to protect yourself in case someone acts completely unreasonable, that's something a threatened person does in a desperate attempt to protect themselves but the person hurting you is the other person, not yourself, at least in cases like this, OP could've done things to try to avoid the situation but she trusted MIL to understand that she was told to pretend OP wasn't pregnant until the second trimester because talking to people made her nervous, so OP couldn't have known that things would go so wrong because part of being a secure person who isn't looking over their shoulder in fear is trusting people to be trustworthy and capable without having to interrogate them about it. it's healthy to do that. what is also healthy is to cry in public, it's what tears are for, to override your attempt to not embarass yourself and to reach out to those around you and say in the most primal way that you're not okay and you need help, it is supposed to be stronger than your shame, OP needed to "ruin" thanksgiving because she needed to tell her family how she felt, thanksgiving wasn't ruined because of OP, it was ruined because presumably they love her and care about her and if she needs their help then that is more important than letting them eat a turkey, it's simply what happens when you care about other people
Watching the cats wash as bad Reddit stories are read out makes it wholesome as they want to wash off the drama and entitlement.
It's funny how you start noticing a name once you know someone with that name. I never noticed how often "Jake" is used as a fake name in these stories until I started dating my Jake.
Chia is a star 🌟 🤩
Loving all this Thanksgiving drama. Story 3 was so vile though, that MIL should be ashamed of herself. Chia was even disgusted by the post.
Story 2 - OP did the right thing. That fiancee sounds horrible!
Vincey, did you fix the cat tree its not leaning anymore?
Good on OP in story 2.
I had someone I almost considered dating, but then he came out and said... and I quote 'I'm open minded, but they should keep that far awat from me and not in public' - RE: a couple of guys walking hand in hand.
Now, I figured this guy was autistic like myself. Unlike him.... and I guess I didn't even realise growing up I'd been hanging around with LGBTQ+ people, and I literally see all couples as the same. He made an excuse for his inflexible autistic thinking and I'm just like 'You can't say that, it's disgusting.'
I gave him one more chance and well, this guy was literally blocked the same day and I haven't spoken to him since.
Oh no! I heard this one already!
I want to try maple cheesecake.......
